Torquil graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Modern Languages and began his career in Film and TV distribution in 1990 as Sales Manager for Virgin Vision in London, followed by Sydney-based sales positions with ABC International and Beyond International.
In 1999 he relocated back to London to become VP, International Sales for Hallmark Entertainment handling sales to French-speaking territories, during which he secured the company’s first output deals with M6 and TF1.
In 2003 he returned to take over Hallmark Entertainment’s Asia Pacific operation and during this period he established output deals with Channel 7 (Australia) and TVNZ (New Zealand) as well as significant sales of the company’s product into Japan, South Korea and throughout the Asian region.
He left Hallmark in 2006 to set up his own distribution entity Mintaka Pty Ltd becoming the exclusive rep for Hallmark Entertainment (later Sonar). He now represents Guinness World Records, MarVista Entertainment, GRB Studios, Defiant Entertainment, Omni Entertainment, Hyde Park International, Janson TV and Great Point Media.
Torquil has been the driving force of maintaining strong relationships with clients and producers alike, enabling him to secure exclusive distribution into certain territories.
